Our Mission & Purpose

A Great Commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will grow the Church.

Clarks Chapel exists to Magnify God, fulfill the Great Mission through evangelism, develop Christlike Maturity, equip people and demonstrate Ministry through service, and incorporate all of God’s family into our fellowship and Membership.

Our vision arises from our understanding of what the sovereign God purposes to do for and through His church. The Great Commission remains our mandate from Christ.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Rains County Chamber of Commerce for their support during the groundbreaking ceremony. We are also immensely grateful to the Texas Church of God State office for their generous matching funds donation from our fundraiser. The spirit is thriving at Clarks Chapel, and we invite you to join us in growth and fellowship!

Today marks a thrilling milestone as we begin pouring the foundation for our brand new church facility in Emory, Texas! We are truly blessed and grateful for this opportunity. Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible journey!

Who We Are

Our Team & Leadership

Clarks Chapel Church of God, the oldest “active” Church of God in the state of Texas, was organized on August 12, 1917. Over the 107-year history, there have been a total of 48 pastors, with our current pastor being Bishop Rudy Bond, who was appointed on October 9, 2022.

Under his leadership over the past two years, our average attendance has more than doubled, as well as increasing our overall giving. In just a short amount of time, we have been able to purchase five acres on Hwy 69 just down from Rains County School and begin the construction of our new facility, as well as relocate, refurbish, and add a two-car garage onto the parsonage, all without incurring any debt.

We are looking forward to relocating to Emory and continuing to grow to meet the needs of Rains County and surrounding communities.

IT WAS AN AWESOME EVENT!

July 2023

A heartfelt thank you to Rains County for the incredible turnout at our inaugural Fireworks Celebration at the soon-to-be-opened property location! With an attendance of around 500 to 600, the evening was filled with worship music, tasty concessions, cornhole, a bounce house, and culminated in a spectacular fireworks display. We’re already excited for next year’s event and are planning to make it an even more grand and memorable experience. Once again, thank you and God Bless!
